PAT testing training - course information
Logic4training runs the City & Guilds L3 Award 2377-22, PAT testing training course, and this course is aimed at electrical operatives who wish to carry out the inspection and testing of in-service electrical equipment; all candidates should be familiar with electrical systems and electrical safety.
The Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) training course takes two days, covering practical tests on various appliances. In addition, the regulatory and legal requirments that under-pin the inspection and testing of in-service electrical equipment, are also covered.
During the 2 days candidates will cover the following:-
- Introduction to Portable Appliance Testing
- Safe Working Practices
- Code of Practice for Portable Appliance Testing
- Insulation and Earthing
- Classification of Appliances
- Practical knowledge of PAT testing and inspection
- Recording, Labelling and Documentation
- Practice Papers
- Practical Assessment
At the end of the course candidates will sit a one-hour online assessment (30 questions), based on a multiple choice format, plus there will be a practical assessment that takes place as part of the course.
The price includes registration with City & Guilds and examination costs.
Guidance documents are provided for use during the electrical course but please NOTE: Candidates must own a copy of the IET Code of Practice for the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (ISBN 978-0-86341-833-4) and be familiar with its contents as this forms an integral part of the theory training and assessment. This can be purchased directly from the IET website using the following link; CoP for PAT Testing. Logic4training does have copies available within the centre to purchase but candidates should purchase the book ahead of the course and be familiar with it main contents.
