Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) training course - City & Guilds 6020-01 Level 3 Diploma |
Description
What is a Domestic Energy Assessor?
The Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA) training course - City & Guilds level 3 Diploma, will provide successful candidates with the necessary qualification to become a Domestic Energy Assessor and issue Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).
EPC’s are required by law as part of the property documents collated by solicitors/conveyencers for every home that is constructed, sold or rented in England & Wales. Since October 2008 it has also become mandatory that landlords provide EPC’s for all tenanted properties, so the demand for Domestic Energy Assessors is on the increase. Candidates will be aware that the Governments has recently scapped the need for Home Information Packs (HIPs) but the requirement for an Energy Performance Certificate to be issued for all properties sold or rented within England and Wales is still in place and these must be issued by a suitably qualified and registered Domestic Energy Assessor.
As a DEA you will have the flexibility of working for yourself and dictating your own workload. The role is varied, inspecting and measuring a wide range of residential properties to gather information to collate into the Energy Performance Certificate.
DEA training course information
The Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA) course involves five-days training at a Logic4training centre and a portfolio, which will be compiled by carrying out surveys within designated properties and producing example certificates.
Visits to two properties will be included in the initial five-day training. In addition, candidates will be required to carry out another three to five visits. These properties will have to be sourced by the candidate and can include friends and families as long as they meet the criteria.
At the end of the Domestic Energy Assessor training course, candidates will be required to complete an online exam, taking 1 ¼ hours, at the Logic4training centre.
The DEA course includes a copy of the Domestic Energy Assessors Handbook by Phil Parnham worth £45, PLUS accreditation for the first year with H&VCA, one of the recognised accreditation bodies for Domestic Energy Assessors, this is worth £150. Successful candidates will be automatically registered with the H&VCA and able to issue EPC’s as soon as the login to the EPC site has been issued to the candidate.
