Description
Air and Ground Source Heat Pump Installation training course
Heat Pump Course overview:
Logic4training’s heat pump installation course has been designed for experienced heating installers who wish to fit heat pumps in domestic and small commercial properties. Domestic heat pump training covers both ground to water and air to water technologies. The heat pump course meets the training entry requirements for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
For building services professionals without the relevant qualifications and experience, but who need an understanding of air or ground source heat pumps to manage, design or specify these systems for others to install, Logic4training’s other heat pump courses include: Air and Ground Source Heat Pump Design training. All the content of the Heat Pump Design course is covered on the Heat Pump Installation course.
Thanks to legally binding targets to cut carbon and the introduction of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), heat pumps are a natural development for the heating market and should be considered by any heating installation company or engineer; whether they work with gas, LPG, solid fuel, oil or bio-mass. Visit our renewable energy blog posts for regular updates on what’s happening in the green energy sector:.
Course duration: 3 days
Course cost: £495 + VAT
Entry requirements:
Candidates should have a good working knowledge of heating/hot water systems and design with an NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
Do I need this course?
The air and ground source heat pump design course is intended for those involved in designing, surveying or managing heat pump systems for others to install.
Heat pump design course content/syllabus:
The heat pump course is intended for experienced domestic heating installers who wish to up-skill to include air source and/or ground source heat pumps in their offering.
Heat pump course content/syllabus: The course will enable candidates to confidently specify, survey, design and install domestic or small commercial heat pump systems, enlisting manufacturers support where required. Systems up to 24kW for ground source and 16kW for air source heat pumps are covered, plus the following areas:
- Background to market
- Heat pump regulations and guidance
- Principles of ground and air source heat pump operation
- Heat pump collector types
- Heat distribution
- Pre-installation requirements
- Installation materials and methods
- Filling, flushing and testing
- Setting to work, commissioning
- Heat pump servicing and fault finding
Logic4training’s heat pump training culminates in a practical and written assessment. The written paper takes the form of a multiple choice exam and a design scenario, with the pass mark being 100%. Successful candidates will be issued with a Logic Certification Domestic Heat Pump installer certificate.
NB: During the design of any heat pump installation accurate calculation of the heat load requirement is imperative to ensure optimum and efficient operation of the system. Calculating building load and heating system design is not covered in any great depth in this course. Candidates without this knowledge should either employ the services of a suitably qualified person, seek manufacturer’s guidance, or take the Logic4training Heating and Hot Water Systems and Safety course.
