Domestic Energy Assessor Course

City & Guilds 6020-01 Domestic Energy Assessor Course

Domestic Energy Assessor Course overview

Logic4training’s City & Guilds 6020-01 Domestic Energy Assessor course will provide successful candidates with the necessary qualification to become a Domestic Energy Assessor and issue Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).

Energy Performance Certificates are required by law as part of the property documents collated by solicitors/conveyancers for every home that is constructed, sold or rented, in England & Wales. Since October 2008 it has also become mandatory that landlords provide EPCs for all tenanted properties.

While the Government has scrapped the need for Home Information Packs (HIPs), the requirement for an EPC is still in place and these must be issued by a suitably qualified and registered Domestic Energy Assessor.

The course is currently only delivered at the Northolt centre. The cost of the course includes training, assessment, certification fees, a copy of the Domestic Energy Assessors Guide and portfolio building guidance.

Entry requirements

Domestic Energy Assessor candidates should have some knowledge of domestic building types, styles and ages. This knowledge is preferable but not essential. The course involves taking measurements and working out dimensions and therfore a reasonable knowledge of maths is required. Also, basic computer skills are needed to input all of the data in order to create a certificate. All candidates have to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check in order to be able to visit premises and issue Energy Performance Certificates.

Do I need this course?

Logic4training’s Domestic Energy Assessor course is intended for candidates who wish to become Domestic Energy Assessors and issue Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).

Course content/syllabus

The Domestic Energy Assessor course involves five days training at a Logic4training centre. Candidates will also need to complete a portfolio of evidence, which will be compiled by carrying out surveys within designated properties and production of example certificates.

Surveys of two properties are completed during the sixth day of the course. Candidates will also be required to carry out another 3 - 5 surveys independently. The premises surveyed independently can include those belonging friends and families, as long as they meet the criteria.

Logic4training’s Domestic Energy Assessor course includes a 1 ¼ hour online multiple choice question paper. Successful candidates will be issued with a City & Guilds 6020-01 Level 3 Diploma certificate and will be able to register with one of the recognised accreditation bodies for Domestic Energy Assessors:
