According to figures published in their last annual review, the Office for National Statistics (ONS), found that electricians in the UK earn, on average, just shy of £33.5K a year.

The survey, published each November, takes the mean average of salaries earned in the trades for that year and, for the sixth year running, electricians come out on top, with a small 1% rise on the average figure for the year before.

Potential for higher earnings

Established electricians tend to be self-employed or work on a contract basis and can earn more than the ONS average – more like £35-40K a year.

Electricians working in London and the South East are also likely to earn more than the ONS average, potentially bringing in between £180 and £350 a day.

For those starting out, returns are obviously more modest, but there’s a great demand for electricians and real opportunities for career development.

If you’re numerate, like working with your hands and looking for a rewarding and interesting career, training as an electrician can give you the qualifications you need to find a satisfying job in the building services sector.

Training as an electrician is also a great stepping stone into the renewables sector, including solar photovoltaics, domestic wind turbines and battery storage.

Domestic electrical installers

Many trades people working in the building services sector need electrical skills, which isn’t necessarily the same as being a fully qualified electrician – gas installers need to wire-in boilers and plumbers fit electric showers. To do this, you need to understand Part P of the building regs and the 18th edition wiring regulations.

We offer a new entrants domestic electrical installer package, which, in just 22 days, will provide you with the skills and knowledge you’ll need to complete a range of electrical tasks. On successful completion of the course you will be able to register with a competent person scheme, so that you can self-certify the work you undertake.

At Logic4training, we have been training electricians and domestic electrical installers for over ten years and have a great reputation within the industry, from our customers and from competent person schemes such as NAPIT, NICEIC and STROMA.
