The demand for electric vehicles in the UK has grown remarkably over the last four years.

Recent research undertaken by nextgreencar.com reports that new registrations of plug-in cars increased from 3,500 in 2013 to more than 220,000 at the end of June 2019.

Manufacturers have been working hard to meet demand, developing more pure-electric and plug-in hybrid models as part of their ranges and a growing number of installers has seen potential in the growing market.

How can I benefit?

The significant rise in the number of EVs on the road means there’s a real demand for more charging points.

If you’re an experienced electrical engineer, with a sound practical knowledge of the wiring regulations and testing & inspection procedures, we offer an excellent bolt-on course which will teach you all you need in just two days.

Not only this, the Government last week published a consultation document proposing a change to building regulations making EV charging points mandatory on all new domestic and non-domestic buildings and all existing non-residential buildings.

In offering this City and Guild’s qualification (C&G Level 3 RQF Award in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (2919-01)), Logic4training has partnered with Rolec, one of the world’s leading specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of electric vehicle charging equipment.

The key skills covered will enable you to design, install, fault-find, inspect and test domestic and commercial electric vehicle charging points.

Then what?

On completion of the course you can register to appear on Rolec’s approved installer’s scheme and their national database of EV charge point installers, thereby getting referrals for installation jobs in your local area.

The qualification also meets the competency requirement for OLEV Grant Scheme which enables your customers to apply for grant funding of up to 75% of the cost of for the installation of charge points at their home, and support towards the costs of buying and installing a charge-point at their workplace.

Although City & Guilds do not set any entry requirements for this qualification, candidates must be over the age of 18 and we recommend they have the following:

  • City & Guilds 2382 – 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in carrying out Initial Verification (Inspection and Testing) on an electrical installation.
