Gas Safety Week 2017 – A Record Breaker!

January 18, 2018 featured image

Gas Safety Week is the gas industries flag ship event for gas safety awareness.

It runs every year during the month of September.

In 2017 it took place on 18-24 September and it broke all the records!

Gas Safe Register sent out the statistics earlier this month (January). 7,831 supporters came together to help promote awareness amongst the industry and the general public.

Every year there is a different theme, this time it was “Family matters”.

The gas industry, consumer organisations, charities and individuals, drove the message home about the importance of having household gas appliances safety checked annually.

Logic4training supports the initiative every year, posting on social media, sending out emails to our customers urging them to support the cause, and taking part in the “thunderclap”.

Parliamentary launch

This year also saw the co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group, Barry Sheerman MP, host a reception at the houses of parliament to launch the week.

It featured speeches from Jonathan Samuel (Gas Safe Register), Eddie Hughes (MP for Walsall North), Lawrence Slade (Energy UK), Paul Hull (Gas Safety Superheroes) and Gordon Lishman (Gas Safe Charity).

The speeches were broadcast on Facebook live and have been viewed over 3,400 times.

Many other parliamentarians also showed their support for Gas Safety Week, with safety messages sent via video on the Gas Safe Register Youtube channel.
