Significant changes are coming to the UK heat market that will affect thousands of installers and heating engineers. Have your say on the future of our industry.

Six industry member associations, supported by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) have developed a survey which aims to give installers, plumbers and heating engineers a voice as we navigate the complex transition to low carbon heating.

The results will be used to inform government policy on these vital issues.

What changes are coming?

In one of her final acts as Prime Minister, Theresa May committed the UK to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, making the UK the first major economy to pass laws to end its contribution to global warming.

According to BEIS, the UK has already reduced emissions by 42% while growing the economy by 72% and has put clean growth at the heart its modern industrial strategy.

However, urgent action is needed if we are to fulfil our legal obligations.

The traditional fossil fuels currently used to heat our buildings will need to be replaced with low carbon fuels or technologies.

With around 40 million buildings to tackle, we need to start as soon as possible and throughout the 2020s, major changes will occur.

Be part of the future

Thousands of gas engineers and heating businesses will be affected by these changes.

As installers and business owners, you are on the front line and it’s vital that the government understands and listens to the opportunities and risks that you face.

The survey closes on 30th September, so have your say now!

About the survey

It was developed by CIPHE, OFTEC, the Energy Utilities Alliance (EUA), the Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA), the Heat Pump Association (HPA) and the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA). Data will be used to inform policy decisions, which will be published for further consultation in due course. No personal information such as names, addresses, etc is requested.
