A career in the gas trade

The gas trade is a highly skilled trade, requiring a lot of training and attention to detail. Experienced gas installers are individuals with a keen eye for detail and often natural problem solvers. They do a job that is often understated, saving lives, keeping people warm in winter and keeping the showers hot… You should ask yourself the following:
  • Do I enjoy problem solving?
  • Do I enjoy learning?
  • Do I enjoy fixing things?
  • Do I enjoying meeting people?
  • Am I a committed person?
  • Do I have potential?

learning a trade

Don't let anything hold you back!

Learning a new trade, like gas, may seem like it could be a long process. In some cases it can be but luckily, Logic4training has launched an intensive 7 week course designed to prepare, train and qualify complete beginners to the industry. The Domestic Gas Heating Installer – New Entrants Package includes a 4 week crash course on basic plumbing skills and theory. This is the perfect introduction to the trade where beginners will learn core knowledge and pipework skills, fundamental gas safety, asbestos awareness, water regulations and other essentials. After the initial 4 weeks you will then move on to gas work, where you will learn how to become an installer “hands-on” in a Logic4training centre. Once you’ve got to grips with the practical work it’s time to complete a portfolio and get out in the field, working with an engineer to complete a variety of jobs. Trainee engineers get a taster of what it’s like to be doing the work properly. Logic4training even provides a bungalow and Gas Safe Register engineers to work with you on this if you need help. The final step is to take your ACS (The Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme) assessment. This is the industry recognised and accepted route to gain the certificate needed to join the Gas Safe Register. Once you’ve got your Gas Safe Register membership you are able to work legally as a gas installer! If you’re not sure you can always give Logic4training’s customer service team a call on 0345 845 7222. We can give free advice on the qualifications you need to work in your chosen trade. Logic4training also runs free open days for anyone thinking of training to become a domestic gas heating installer.
