Logic4training runs the City & Guilds 2377-22 Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) course. This course is for electricians or those with knowledge of electrical installations, appliances and the hazards of electricity who wish to carry out the inspection and testing of in-service electrical equipment.
PAT testing training covers a range of appliances plus the regulatory and legal requirements that under-pin the testing and inspection of in-service electrical equipment.
The cost of the course includes training, assessment, registration with City & Guilds and the examination costs.
The PAT testing course is for electricians who those who are familiar with electrical installations and electrical safety and its associated hazards. Operatives must provide their date of birth for registration with City & Guilds.
Also if they have previously gained a City & Guilds qualification, operatives must provide their enrollment number which can be found on their existing City & Guilds certificates in the format of ABC1234.
This course will provide the knowledge and proof of competence required to carry out electrical appliance testing and inspection.

- Insulation and earthing
- Classification of appliances
- Practical knowledge of PAT testing and inspection
- Recording, labelling and documentation
- Practice papers
- Practical assessment
At the end of the course, operatives will sit an online assessment in the format of multiple choice questions. There is also a half hour practical assessment.
On successful completion, operatives will gain the City & Guilds 2377-22 In-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment certificate.
Candidates must purchase a copy of the IET Code of Practice for the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (ISBN 978-0-86341-833-4) and be familiar with its contents as this forms an integral part of the theory, training and assessment.
