Start your heat pump training with Logic4training.
At Logic4training, we have been upskilling tradespeople into renewables for over 15 years. From solar thermal to heat pumps, we have covered the lot! Over the years, we have refined our heat pump training to offer comprehensive courses on air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps. As the renewable sector expanded, we wanted to too, and so we can proudly offer renewables training across our four training centres.
Additionally, you can make the most of the Government’s heat pump net zero vouchers and get £500 off your training. Additionally, if you are also looking to hold the qualification for low-temperature heating and hot water systems in dwellings, we do a combined offer which includes the Air Source Heat Pump course and the Low Temperature Heating course, and you only have to pay £340 including VAT for both courses instead of the original £700 + VAT!

Frequently Asked Questions
This partnership aims to streamline the pathway for heating engineers and installers to become MCS certified in heat pump installation. After completing Logic4training’s accredited heat pump training, candidates can join Alto Energy’s MCS Umbrella Scheme and/or Start at Home Scheme, removing many of the traditional barriers to MCS certification.
You can read more about our partnership with Alto Energy here.
Ourselves and Alto Energy are committed to supporting the transition to low-carbon heating. By working together, we provide a complete training-to-certification route, helping more installers get involved in the heat pump sector without the full administrative burden of becoming MCS certified independently.
We offer a range of LCL Awards-accredited heat pump training courses, including Level 3 courses in air source heat pump installation and maintenance. These meet the competency requirements needed to operate under Alto Energy’s MCS schemes.
To complete our level 3 heat pump training course you must hold a valid WRAS Water Regulations qualification in addition to one of the following:
- A Level 2 NVQ or Level 3 NVQ or SVQ in plumbing / heating & ventilation / gas / oil – Installation and Maintenance qualification
- A valid Core Gas Safety (CCN1) certificate with CENWAT – must be involved in the installation of heating systems
- An OFTEC Oil certificate
- A valid HETAS certificate (must be for wet systems)
- CPS registration for plumbing systems
- Two years of minimum verifiable experience in the installation of heating and hot water systems.
If you’re unsure about eligibility, contact Logic4training for guidance.
We deliver air source heat pump training at all 4 of our centres (Northolt, Luton, Basildon and Sittingbourne). You can find the nearest centre and course dates on our website or by contacting us directly.
After completing our training, you will need to do a 1-day heat pump training course with Alto Energy.
Alto Energy’s MCS Umbrella Scheme allows installers to operate under their MCS certification, meaning you don’t need to go through the costly and complex process of becoming certified yourself. Alto takes on the compliance and certification responsibilities while you focus on installing.
Alto Energy is participating in Nesta’s Start at Home Scheme, giving you the opportunity to have a fully funded heat pump installed in your own home. This hands-on experience offers a unique and practical way to deepen your understanding of heat pump systems, observe real-world performance, and build the confidence to recommend them to your customers. Installing a system in your own home allows you to experience firsthand how heat pumps operate day-to-day, monitor running costs, and gain insights that go far beyond traditional classroom learning or one-off installations.
Key benefits include:
- Reduced admin and compliance burden
- Support with design, paperwork, and commissioning
- Access to government incentives (e.g., Boiler Upgrade Scheme)
- Ongoing technical support and quality assurance
Once you complete your heat pump training, you can apply to join one of Alto Energy’s MCS schemes. At the end of your heat pump course, we, along with Alto Energy, will guide you through the next steps, including documentation, assessment, and onboarding.
Technically, no, but without MCS certification, your customers won’t be eligible for grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Working under Alto’s MCS schemes lets you legally install heat pumps with all the benefits of certification, without holding it yourself.
Alto Energy offers design support for all installations registered under their scheme. This includes assistance with heat loss calculations, system specifications, and compliance documentation.
