Heat Pump Schemes With Logic4training

At Logic4training, we’re proud to offer two tailored schemes to help our candidates confidently break into the heat pump market. These are separate schemes, one with Alto Energy and one with Grant. Each scheme is designed to allow installers to fit a free air source heat pump in their own home to gain experience and overcome specific barriers in the installation process.

1. Logic4training & Alto Energy Partnership: Alto Assured Start at Home Scheme

We’re excited to announce that we have partnered with Alto Energy! Our partnership aims to help installers smoothly transition from their training to installing heat pumps. Our heat pump candidates will be able to make the most of the Alto Assured Start at Home Scheme and have access to a selection of branded heat pumps to work with. If you’re a heating installer in England, Scotland or Wales, you can get a FREE heat pump for your own home and gain hands-on installation experience in the process.

Alto Energy has joined Nesta’s Start at Home Scheme, enabling us to offer you a fully funded heat pump, alongside our expert heat pump training and technical support. It’s a practical way to learn how these systems work, understand real-life performance and gain the confidence to recommend heat pumps to your customers. There’s no better way to understand how heat pumps perform than by fitting one in your own house. You’ll see the running costs, how the system behaves day to day, and gain insights that go far beyond a typical installation.

Key highlights:

  • Up to £1,000 cashback towards your installation costs.
  • Fully MCS-approved heat pump design, complete with detailed room-by-room heat loss analyses, system schematics, performance projections, and management of all Distribution Network Operator (DNO) applications on your behalf.
  • Prior to installation, you’ll have a dedicated session with our technical experts to resolve any outstanding queries, plus ongoing specialist support available throughout your installation process.
  • An Alto Energy engineer will carry out commissioning in partnership with you at your property, ensuring the system is fitted and set up correctly in line with all MCS standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • After completion, you’ll receive full MCS certification as part of a comprehensive handover pack, containing all relevant heat pump paperwork to meet compliance requirements.
  • Every installation is safeguarded with a standard seven-year parts and labour warranty for your peace of mind.

2. Logic4training & Grant UK: Exclusive “Start with Grant” Pathway

Working with Grant centres around the Start with Grant scheme and their partnership with Heat Pump Go MCS Umbrella Scheme. This is an opportunity for Logic4training candidates to install a fully funded Grant Aerona air source heat pump system in their own home via the BUS. This route is specifically created to help installers gain hands-on experience with the product, see first-hand how it improves home energy efficiency, and build real confidence outside the classroom to then take to customers. These partnerships also allow for installers to have future access to the BUS for their customers.

Key highlights:

  • Receive a Grant Aerona air source heat pump, suitable for homes up to 12kW, along with an Aerona Smart Controller, a hot water cylinder (up to 210 litres), a 50-litre volumiser, and a full Grant installation kit.
  • Benefit from expert design assistance, including help with heat loss calculations and selecting the appropriate system for your property.
  • Access hands-on product training, which is available both online and at Grant’s training academies throughout the UK.
  • A Grant engineer will attend your property to thoroughly check and commission your heat pump system.
  • Enjoy peace of mind with a 7-year product warranty, made possible when you join the G1 Scheme.
  • Ongoing technical support is readily available via dedicated phone lines and web resources.
  • The installation will be certified for MCS by the umbrella partner, Heat Pump Go, meaning you don’t need personal MCS accreditation.
  • After your installation is officially signed off, you will receive a £1,500 contribution towards your installation costs, provided from the remaining Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant funds.

Benefits for Installers

Heat pump installations can be challenging, but with these schemes, you get comprehensive support designed to make the transition smooth and effective. No matter which route you choose.

  • Become part of an Approved Installer Network: Both require joining their installer networks, positioning you to access exclusive offers, ongoing support and future opportunities in the renewables sector.
  • Full design, support, and commissioning included: Whichever pathway you select, you’ll receive detailed room-by-room system designs, technical support from enquiry to completion, and professional commissioning. Both partners oversee the entire process, ensuring compliance with MCS standards and manufacturer requirements at every stage.
  • Financial incentives for your installation: Both schemes now offer a contribution towards your installation costs after successful commissioning and certification. Grant’s scheme provides a larger payment, but with either option, you’ll benefit from a meaningful financial contribution to your installation.
  • Product choice and kit options: Grant’s pathway offers only the Grant Aerona heat pump and kit, while Alto Energy provides a selection of four heat pump brands, allowing greater flexibility depending on your property’s requirements.
  • Streamlined accreditation process: Grant partners with a third-party MCS umbrella provider, while Alto Energy is a certified MCS umbrella itself. Regardless, you won’t need personal MCS accreditation. Everything is managed for you so you can focus on the practical side.
  • Hands-on training and required certifications: After completing your LCL Awards L3 Air Source Heat Pump Installation course at Logic4training, both schemes will require you to attend their own 1-day focused installer training, which will allow you to join their installer network. They will also check that you have a valid Unvented/Hot Water Storage Systems (HWSS) certificate. This ensures you are not only compliant but also confident and prepared for successful installation.
  • Expand your business and expertise: Installing a heat pump in your own home builds your credibility and technical expertise, as well as the first-hand experience to confidently recommend these systems to your customers.

In summary, these two schemes mean you can move from training to real-world heat pump installation quickly, confidently, and with the best technical and compliance support in the industry.

The Role of An MCS Umbrella Scheme

An MCS umbrella scheme is designed to make heat pump installation far more accessible to heating professionals. Instead of having to undertake the lengthy and often expensive process of achieving full Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation, installers can work under the guidance of an accredited umbrella partner. This simplifies the route to market significantly.

With umbrella schemes, installers focus on fitting the heat pump, while the umbrella partner handles all the complex compliance tasks. This includes system design to meet MCS standards, completing all required paperwork, such as Distribution Network Operator (DNO) applications, and ensuring location suitability assessments are properly managed.

Once the installation is complete, the umbrella scheme manages the commissioning process, ensures everything is checked and running correctly, and oversees post-installation paperwork. The umbrella partner also submits the project for MCS certification and facilitates access to funding through schemes like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), even for installers who are not personally MCS-accredited.

A key part of an umbrella scheme is providing a comprehensive handover to the homeowner, with full documentation, ongoing technical support, and robust warranty cover. This support can extend up to seven years and helps reduce business risk for installers while giving customers greater confidence in their new system.

Ultimately, the MCS umbrella scheme empowers installers to enter the renewables market quickly and efficiently, focusing on high-quality installations and customer satisfaction, without being held back by the often daunting administrative processes tied to MCS approval. This practical route supports skill development, business growth, and wider adoption of heat pump technology across the UK.
