Our New Entrants packages have been designed for clear routes into the gas industry, with options to upskill to work on more domestic appliances, commercial gas, LPG, and/or heat pumps.

In-Centre Training & Portfolio Building

Here comes the best bit! On your start date, you’ll go into the centre and start your theory and practical training, working on completing the Domestic Gas Heating Installer Course (DGHI) & Gas Managed Learning Programme (MLP). Over the 8 weeks, you’ll learn all the essential skills and theoretical underpinning needed to become a Gas Safety Registered Engineer. Following your training, you must produce a portfolio of gas-related tasks before you return for your final ACS assessments.

ClubLogic: Online Revision

ClubLogic, our online platform, doesn’t replace in-centre learning but allows you to take what you’ve learned in the class and revisit it online. The Essential Site Skills course offers an excellent starting point for anyone new to the trades or with limited experience. Over the 5 days, you'll cover the essential techniques and knowledge to help you tackle tasks confidently, all while maintaining high standards in your work.

The Gas Managed Learning Programme is a 4 week course that covers all aspects of domestic gas safety. You start in-centre, learning the theoretical underpinnings and practicals skills to becoming a gas engineer, before you then build your on-site gas portfolio. Completing the gas portfolio is a mandatory requirement to complete the Gas Managed Learning Programme. You can do your on-site portfolio and boiler installations with a Gas Safe Registered engineer of your choice or we can provide a portfolio building service. To become a fully qualified* registered gas engineer, you must:

Complete an on-site portfolio of gas work.
Undertake ACS training and assessment, which will result in a CCN1 qualification (core gas safety), plus the specific appliances you plan to work on – boilers, cookers and fires, for example.
Register with Gas Safe

Whether a new entrant or trades person with some relevant experience, our Domestic Gas Heating Installer (DGHI) programme, covers all of the above, plus other essential qualifications, such as WRAS water regulations and health & safety courses.

At the end of your DGHI programme you will complete ACS training and assessment; a pre-requisite of becoming Gas Safe Registered.

As part of the programme, trainees are required to build an on-site portfolio as well as five boiler installs, under the supervision of a Registered Gas Engineer – we can help with this aspect too.

On successful completion of the ACS assessment you will be ready to apply to join the Gas Safe Register.

All our courses are full-time. Courses start at 8.30 am and usually finish at around 4.00 pm. You will be advised on your first day at the centre if there are any changes to these times. The centre is open from 8.00 am, and there is tea & coffee awaiting.

Gas engineers install, service, maintain and repair gas appliances in domestic and/or commercial properties.

As we move away from fossil fuels, gas engineers will continue to maintain exisiting boilers. In 2024, gas boiler fittings outnumbered heat pump installations by more that 15 to one. It is likely that these new boilers will last for around 20 years. Currently, there are around 23 million gas boilers in the UK.

Ultimately, gas is just the fuel; a gas installer should view themselves as a ‘heating engineer’. As a trained gas engineer, you will have the right qualifications and experience to upskill into increasingly popular renewable technologies, like heat pumps. These upskill courses take around five days, depending on experience.

A gas engineer who can also install heat pumps and other renewables, such as solar thermal, will be in demand now and in the future.

Typical duties may include:

Installing or repairing appliances to deliver gas
Repairing gas appliances and heating systems.
Maintaining or replacing faulty systems.
Cutting, bending & joining pipes and fittings.
Providing cost estimates to customers, and talking through additional cover, insurance options & energy saving options.
Carrying out estimates, checking for gas leaks & ensuring all repairs/installations are up to code.
Ensuring all safety requirements are met accordingly.

The Domestic Gas Heating Installer Course is only available at our Northolt Centre.

The Gas Managed Learning Programme is available at our Northolt, Luton, Basildon, or Sittingbourne Centres.

There are no entry requirements for this course, but we will assess candidates to check their suitability. A good understanding of maths and English is essential.

Yes, it is possible to complete these courses on weekends. The Domestic Gas Heating Installer Course and Gas Managed Learning Programme can be completed on weekends at our Northolt Centre. Each course would take 3 months to complete.

There are no formal assessments. You will receive Logic4training Certificates upon completing these courses.

Classes can have a maximum of 10 people. We like to keep our class sizes small, so that you have more contact time with your trainer.

Yes. After completing your Gas Managed Learning Programme, you can apply to join the Gas Safe Register.

We understand that being able to spread the cost of the course is an appealing option, so we have teamed up with OMNI Retail Finance to make this possible. When speaking to your course advisor, let them know that you want to spread the course cost, and they can help you start the process. More information can be found here.

All tools and equipment are provided during this course. However, you will need to bring hard steel toe-capped boots for when you are in the workshop. In some circumstances, candidates may bring their own test equipment if they so desire, but please check beforehand.

Logic4training will supply reading material and textbooks on the first day of attendance; however, it is a good idea to bring in pens, highlighters, and sticky notes.
