
Logic4training’s Hot Water Systems and Safety (HWSS) course is for experienced engineers who want to work on vented and unvented hot water systems in accordance with the Building Regulations G3.
The HWSS course is recognised by Competent Person Schemes (CPS) approved to offer self-certification under Approved Document G.
Logic4training’s Hot Water Systems and Safety (HWSS) training course provides operatives with a certificate of competence in accordance with G3 Building Regulations.
This course replaces the unvented hot water training course and covers all hot water systems.
Training and assessment takes place over one day with candidates doing slightly different assessments depending on whether they require initial assessment or re-assessment.
The HWSS course is recognised by Competent Person Schemes (CPS) approved to offer self-certification under Approved Document G.
The course covers both vented and unvented hot water systems training, covering the following topics:
- Installation and safety
- Regulations, standards and guidelines
- Theory of hot water expansion
- Principles of hot water storage
- Design considerations
- Components and function
- Safety controls, discharge and integration
- Maintenance and servicing
Upon successful course completion, candidates will be issued with a HWSS certificate of competence from LCL Awards.
The cost of the course includes training, assessment, the certification fee and a course manual.
Candidates must be experienced in the installation of domestic hot and cold vented and unvented water systems and hold one Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) recognised competency in a conventional fuel.
The initial assessment is designed for operatives who do not have an up to date HWSS certificate.
This qualification has a 5 year expiry. Re-assessment is required every 5 years to keep the qualification valid.
Re-assessment is for candidates whose qualification has expired within the last 12 months.
All candidates must be aware of and familiar with Section G3 from the new Part G Building Regulations.
