Cyber Awareness for your Company

March 6, 2019 featured image

Have you ever thought about what would happen if your business experienced a cyber breach or attack?

The impact of a cyber breach or attack can result in customer losses, reputation damage and the far reaching consequences of a hacker getting their hands on your data.

The government’s Cyber Security Breaches survey has revealed that 42% of micro/small businesses have been a victim to a breach or attack in the past 12 months.

Steps to protect your Company Online

Protecting your business from hackers and viruses doesn’t have to take a lot of time, work or money. Here is some advice you can use to protect yourself.

  • Install the latest Software and App Updates
  • Have PIN/password protection/fingerprint recognition for mobile and tablet devices.
  • Configure devices so if lost or stolen, they can be tracked, remotely wiped, or remotely locked.
  • When sending sensitive information, don’t connect to public WIFI hotspots.
  • Use strong passwords by not using predictable passwords.
  • Back up your data to the cloud.
  • Prevent malware damage by using antivirus software and switch on your firewall.
  • Avoid phishing attacks by being wary suspicious emails that ask for sensitive information or containing suspicious links.
