BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) sets the standards for electrical installation in the UK and many other countries.
The IET co-publishes BS 7671 with the British Standards Institution (BSI) and is the authority on electrical installation.
The new 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018) was published in July 2018 and all new electrical installations need to comply with it from 1st January 2019.
IET also published a new 18th Edition book (Blue) in July 2018 and in December 2018 have further published a corrigendum to BS7671:2018 highlighting eleven corrections in this book.
The Corrigendum can downloaded here:

Training for 18th Edition
Existing electricians who currently hold the 17th Edition (AMD3) qualification can upgrade their qualification by taking a one day 18th Edition Wiring Regulations upgrade course.
For everyone else including new learners, we recommend the full City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (2382-18) training course.
The course is designed for electricians, as well as other building services engineers such as gas installers, kitchen/bathroom fitters, plumbers and builders who are required to complete some domestic electrical work, such as wiring in a boiler or shower.
