Changes to ACS, make sure your qualifications are up to date

By 1st April next year, all installers who hold the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) appliance elements Central Heating Boilers (CEN1) or Space Heaters (HTR1) must also hold their Combustion Performance Analysis of Domestic Appliances (CPA1). Domestic heating engineers have until the end of March 2012 to complete their CPA1 (if they don’t already have it).

According to the Gas Safe Register’s records, there are currently 84,000 installers who hold CEN1 without CPA1 – that’s a lot of people to go through training and assessment between now and the 31st March. If you leave this to the last minute, you may run the risk of not getting it done in time. Failure to complete the CPA1 assessment by the deadline will result in the CEN1 and HTR1 elements becoming invalid. If all your elements are due for renewal before that date, you can take your CPA1 at the same time.

Logic4training delivers gas ACS training and assessment, including CEN1 (now replaced by CENWAT), HTR1 and CPA1, plus a range of other courses for building services engineers.
