The government has launched a new calculation tool to help UK customers estimate how much money they will save by installing a renewable heating system under the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
The tool could prove useful for the savvy installer wanting to help their customers understand more about how much they could really expect to be paid through the scheme, according to what type of renewable heating system they install.
The tool, available for consumers in England, Scotland and Wales, will enable users to get a clear idea of the payments they could receive for ‘going green’ simply by entering a few details about:
• the type of renewable system they would opt for
• the type of property they live in
• the number of bedrooms their home has
• age of the property
• roof type, main wall type and the way in which the home is currently heated
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Climate Change, Amber Rudd MP, explained: “The Domestic RHI helps households offset the cost of installing renewable heating systems. From today, by entering just a few simple details into this calculator, people can now instantly see how much they could be paid through the scheme.”
The calculator can be used by anyone regardless of their level of knowledge of renewable heat technologies. An estimate can be obtained with or without an Energy Performance Certificate. Currently, more than four thousand households are benefitting from the RHI scheme, which launched in April 2014.
