The Water Regulations course (also known as the WRAS course) is the UK’s recognised qualification that demonstrates your understanding of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. This
This 1 day, theory-based course is fully recognised by WRAS as meeting their qualification requirements. Successful candidates receive an LCL Awards Water Regulations Certificate of Competence, which proves they can work on potable (drinking) water systems.
A Water Regulations certificate is essential if you want to:
- Join the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS) and self-certify your own plumbing work to your local water company.
- Join a plumbing Competent Person Scheme (CPS). Most schemes require Water Regs as a foundation qualification.
- Register with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) to install heat pumps, solar thermal and other renewable heating that touches the cold-water supply.
- Demonstrate compliance to local water companies, customers, insurers and main contractors.
- Progress to renewable technology and unvented hot water qualifications, most of which list Water Regs as a prerequisite.
