FAQs
This course is suitable for anyone working on or near electrical systems, including non-electrically qualified workers, duty holders, supervisors, and anyone responsible for the safety of others. It is particularly valuable for those who may operate or maintain electrical equipment, such as changing lamps or resetting circuit breakers, and for those seeking to understand their legal responsibilities under UK law.
Electrical safety training reduces the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities caused by electrical hazards. It ensures compliance with legal requirements, helps prevent costly incidents and equipment damage, and fosters a culture of safety in the workplace. Well-trained employees are better equipped to identify and mitigate risks, protecting themselves and others.
Essential PPE for electrical work includes rubber gloves, insulated tools, safety goggles, and sometimes flame-resistant clothing. The correct use of PPE is covered in the training to minimise the risk of electric shock and burns.
If someone receives an electric shock, the first step is to make sure that you are safe. If you are safe, you will want to turn off the power source before touching them to avoid becoming a victim yourself. Call for emergency help immediately and provide first aid, such as CPR, if trained and safe to do so.
