Logic4training's 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Amendment 4 Update course is a 1-day route for qualified electricians who already hold the 18th Edition qualification (City & Guilds 2382-22 or equivalent) and need to update to Amendment 4 (BS 7671:2018+A4:2026).

Update to Amendment 4 in one day.

Every few years, the Wiring Regulations are amended to keep pace with new technology and practice. Amendment 4 (the “Orange Book”) was published on 15 April 2026 and consolidates the previous Amendment 3 changes alongside major new sections on battery storage, Power over Ethernet, energy efficiency and medical locations.

If you already hold the 18th Edition, you don’t need to repeat the full 3-day course. This update brings you up to the current standard quickly, and because the exam is sat the same day, there’s no need to book a separate assessment or come back a second time.

You’ll train in the morning and sit the exam the same afternoon, completing the whole update in one day at our Northolt, Luton, Basildon or Sittingbourne centres.

So what content can you expect to learn with Amendment 4? The day focuses on the additions and revisions introduced by BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, with an emphasis on how they apply in design, installation, inspection and testing.

For the first time there’s a dedicated chapter for battery storage systems, covering:

Safe installation and thermal runaway mitigation
Specific location requirements e.g. prohibiting battery racks in lofts or escape routes
Integration with solar PV and other generation sources

New requirements for distributing ELV DC power via balanced data cabling, ensuring data cables can safely handle the thermal loads of powering devices such as lighting and security systems.

Clarifies earthing and bonding requirements in information and communication technology systems, focusing on signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Stricter testing schedules and a new requirement to record the resistance of supplementary protective bonding conductors in healthcare settings.

A new framework promoting energy-efficient design and supporting the UK’s move toward net-zero, including Prosumer Electrical Installations (PEIs) that both consume and generate electricity.

Amendment 4 merges all previous updates (A2/A3) into one consolidated volume, moving the 18th Edition from the “Brown Book” to the “Orange Book” format.

In-centre Online Exam

The 2382-26 exam is a 60-question, 120-minute open-book multiple-choice assessment. There is no practical element to this course.

To undertake this course, you will need:

A current City & Guilds 2382-22 or LCL Awards 18th Edition certificate.
A copy of the certificate that was supplied to us before the course.
The Amendment 4 Wiring Regulations book and the On-Site Guide – you can bring your own, buy them from our online shop or in-centre.
