For domestic and commercial meter exchange, CMA1/3 with MET1 is the standard route, with a reassessment every five years. MET4 covers non-domestic diaphragm meters.
CMA1 covers core gas safety for both domestic and non-domestic metering work, while CMA3 is limited to domestic meter installation and exchange.
Both are core elements but they need to be paired with the relevant appliance module, most commonly MET1 for domestic meters. CMA1 is the broader option if your work takes you into non-domestic premises, and it is also accepted as an underpinning qualification for other modules such as MET4 non-domestic diaphragm meters.

Gas metering ACS certificates are valid for five years and must be reassessed before they expire to keep working on meters.
Which route you take depends on timing. If your certificate is still in date or expired less than 12 months ago, you can take the CMA1/3 with MET1 reassessment. If it expired more than 12 months ago, you must take the initial assessment route instead.
You can be reassessed up to six months early without losing any validity, as the remaining time carries over onto your new certificate. Bring your existing ACS certificates with you as evidence on the day, and if you are unsure which route applies, speak to our team before booking.
