The Hot Water Systems and Safety (HWSS) qualification is the UK’s recognised certificate of competence for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining vented and unvented domestic hot water systems in line with G3 of the Building Regulations.
An HWSS certificate is essential if you want to:
- Self-certify work under Approved Document G via a Competent Person Scheme (CPS)
- Install or service unvented hot water cylinders legally
- Join the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for renewable installations involving unvented cylinders
- Progress to heat pumps (HWSS is a prerequisite)
- Demonstrate G3 compliance to customers, insurers and main contractors
This course is available as either an initial assessment (for new candidates) or a re-assessment (for those whose previous HWSS certificate has expired within the last 12 months).
