Property maintenance courses explained.
Building a multi-skilled team? These answers explain what each course covers and who it suits.
Property maintenance suits lettings, caretaking and facilities teams needing broad repair skills across a building. Essential site skills suits building services installers who need practical trade skills for site work.
Both courses are purely practical, but they cover different ground.
The Property Maintenance course covers the upkeep of whole buildings: basic plumbing and electrics, tiling, carpentry, general repairs, decorating, damp prevention, energy efficiency and site safety, plus the building regulations that apply when altering, drilling or notching. You also learn to recognise structural defects and judge when a professional is needed.
Essential Site Skills is narrower and aimed at finishing work to a high standard: power tool use, tiling, plastering, carpentry and safely locating cables and pipes before you cut into a wall.

The Property Maintenance course runs over two weeks and Essential Site Skills over five days, both at our Northolt centre.
Northolt covers west London and the surrounding home counties. Class sizes are kept small, with a maximum of eight on Essential Site Skills, so everyone gets hands-on time rather than watching a demonstration.
Both are delivered in person only. Practical trade skills cannot be learned properly from a screen, which is why we do not offer an online version.

No. Neither course has formal entry requirements, and both are open to complete beginners.
Property Maintenance suits landlords, caretakers, facilities and lettings staff, self-builders and home improvers, as well as tradespeople broadening what they can offer. Essential Site Skills starts with basic tool use and safety before moving on to more involved work, so it suits apprentices and trainees as well as experienced installers filling gaps.
What matters more than experience is being practically minded and comfortable working with your hands. All tools and materials are provided; bring a notepad and steel toe capped boots.

Successful candidates receive a Logic4training Certificate in Property Maintenance, confirming you have completed a structured practical programme.
This is a provider certificate rather than a regulated qualification, which is the right fit for maintenance and site skills work where competence is demonstrated on the job rather than through a card scheme. It is widely accepted by employers, housing providers and facilities contractors as evidence of structured training.
If you need an accredited qualification in a specific trade, look at our plumbing, electrical or gas ranges instead. Note that this training does not permit you to carry out notifiable gas or electrical work.

Yes, and it is a common request from housing providers and facilities contractors. If you need content shaped around your own stock and processes, our bespoke training builds a programme from a skills gap analysis, at your premises or ours.
