Logic4training's F-Gas Reassessment course is for experienced refrigeration and air-conditioning or heat pump engineers who need to keep their F-Gas qualification up-to-date.
This course is suitable for engineers who are looking to keep all their F-Gas activities (categories 1-4) live after holding the qualification for 5 years.
Logic4training’s F-Gas Reassessment training course is a level 3 regulated RQF qualification for learners who wish to work in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industries with fluorinated greenhouse gases. This qualification meets the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2015/2067.
This 2-day reassessment course allows candidates to keep any of their category 1-4 certificates, which covers all F-Gas activities, up-to-date and valid for another 5 years.
Candidates can complete the course at our Northolt and Basildon centres.
The price includes the training, assessment and LCL Awards examination and certification fee.
The course is for experienced operatives only who are carrying out this work on an ongoing basis.
Refresher training included in this course allows operatives to revisit the following topics:
- Installation
- Maintenance
- Servicing or recovery in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with the regulations
- Fundamental theoretical underpinnings
It is important to know that operatives can only carry out reassessment on the same category (1 to 4) as is already held or any category below
The written assessment is reduced, but the practical assessment remains the same.
Candidates wishing to undertake this course must hold a valid F-Gas certificate issued by LCL Awards, City & Guilds or BESA (CITB) in refrigeration, heating & ventilation or other related industry sectors.
Operatives must produce their existing F-Gas certificate and it should have expired no more than 6 months earlier.
It is an open book assessment.
This qualification is DEFRA approved. Click here to check the Government guidance on qualifications required to work on equipment containing F-Gas.
Companies and operatives (sole traders) must be registered with an F-Gas Certification Body for the category they wish to work within the industry. Examples of F-Gas Registration Bodies include:

FAQs
Engineers and technicians working with refrigeration, air conditioning, or heat pump systems in the UK must renew their F-Gas Category 1–4 certification every five years to legally continue working with fluorinated gases.
On successful completion, your renewed F-Gas certificate will be valid for another five years, in line with UK regulations.
You can only undertake the reassessment if your certificate has expired by no more than six months. Working without a valid certificate is against the law in the UK and can result in penalties.
The course typically takes two days, including refresher training, a reduced written/open book assessment, and a practical test similar to the original assessment. All parts must be completed at a Logic4training centre.
Yes, the LCL Awards F-Gas reassessment is DEFRA approved and accepted nationwide, meeting all statutory requirements for UK F-Gas work.
