F-Gas courses explained.
Working with refrigerants? These answers explain the F-Gas qualifications and when to renew.
Experience-route candidates must provide a letter from their employer confirming how long they have worked in refrigeration or air conditioning, that the work was alongside a qualified registered engineer, and what types of units and systems they worked on. All candidates need a good practical working knowledge of soldering and brazing.
If you do not meet these requirements, you must complete the Basic F-Gas Refrigeration course first.
Successful candidates receive a regulated LCL Awards Level 3 RQF certificate covering all four F-Gas categories. The qualification is DEFRA approved, which is what makes it valid for legal F-Gas work and accepted by refrigerant suppliers.
The exam fee is included in the course price, and each candidate receives the training manual.
There is no grace period, so book before your certificate expires rather than after.
Good practical brazing ability is an entry expectation rather than something taught from scratch on the Category 1 course, so if you have not brazed regularly, or you are moving across from a trade where you did not, it is worth addressing first.
The Refrigeration and AC Pipework Oxy-Fuel Brazing course covers the joining techniques used across refrigeration and air conditioning pipework.
The ACRIB Flammable Refrigerants course is £425 + VAT, F-Gas reassessment and oxy-fuel brazing are both £495 + VAT, and the full Level 3 F-Gas qualification is £1,095 + VAT.
We also offer 0% finance and pay-in-instalments options, so speak to our team about the best route for you.
