Logic4training’s CoMCoP / SMICoP Initial Training and Assessment Package is designed for operatives who are currently working for an authorised business but have never held EUSR registration themselves. The package is designed to ensure CoMCoP, formally SMICoP / SMIS, compliance.
Logic4training’s CoMCoP / SMICoP Initial Training and Assessment Package provides learners with the underpinning knowledge to install smart meters, ensure CoMCoP compliance and work safely in line with industry regulations, codes of practices and guidelines. It is assumed candidates are experienced meter operatives.
Learners will undertake learning at our training centre. This enables learners to practice and learn installing and exchanging smart meters in a safe and controlled environment which simulates real work situations.
The training package covers a refresher on power smart metering installations (Single Phase, Multi-Rate, Single Phase off Multi Phase & Multi-Phase, if required). The package can also include Gas – Low Pressure if required. Assessments will include observed practical assessments and theory assessments.
The training package also covers the required Health & Safety aspects and the required underpinning knowledge regarding customer protocols to ensure they are CoMCoP compliant (formally SMICOP/SMIS).
The assessment is split into written and observed practical elements. The practical part consists of observed in-centre power meter exchanges/installations, including CoMCoP/SMIS/SMICOP questions regarding customer service.
The cost of the course includes training, assessment and EUSR registration.
Any of the following smart meter competencies: Power – Single Phase, Single off Multi, Multi-Phase and Multi-rate and power supplies and/or Gas Low pressure.

Following this course, installers can look to upskill in Power Smart Meters, Gas Smart Meters, Dual Fuel Smart Meters, Multi-Phase Power Meters, and Heavy Duty Cut Out (HDCO) Awareness.
FAQs
Smart meter installer registration via EUSR is valid for three years. To remain compliant, operatives must undertake refresher training and assessment before expiry. This process ensures ongoing competence in installation safety, customer service, and regulatory standards.
The CoMCoP / SMICoP Initial Training and Assessment Package ensures compliance with the latest Codes of Practice, covering essential protocols such as customer service, health and safety, risk assessment, and energy efficiency. The course includes both theoretical and practical assessments to ensure you meet industry and regulatory standards.
This course is designed for experienced meter operatives working for authorised businesses who have not previously held EUSR registration. Gas candidates must also hold valid ACS qualifications to be eligible for EUSR registration.
Employers must safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of their employees and anyone affected by their work activities, as set out in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. You are responsible for ensuring your installers are aware of their individual duties, have access to up-to-date training, and can refuse unsafe work. Regular reviews and updates to your safety and compliance procedures are also required.
The CoMCoP / SMICoP Initial Training and Assessment Package ensures your operatives are fully compliant with the latest industry regulations, including the Smart Meter Installation Code of Practice (SMICoP) and Consolidated Metering Code of Practice (CoMCoP). This is essential for energy suppliers and meter operators, as compliance is mandatory and ensures a consistent, high standard of installation and customer service across your workforce.
