This is an excellent industry refresher course and is useful as preparatory training to improve, enhance and update the skills of engineering personnel before they undertake the Level 3 RQF F-Gas training course.

This is a comprehensive course suitable for Engineers with little or no understanding of air conditioning and refrigeration providing a basic understanding of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning fundamentals, terminology and equipment application.

This Course aims to improve, enhance and update the skills of engineering personnel before they undertake the F-Gas course

Both theory and practical aspects of the subjects are covered, and where applicable, exercises are undertaken to develop the necessary skills.

A course suited to those who have little or no understanding of air conditioning and refrigeration theory and equipment, but have some understanding of engineering aspects.

Students would typically be Installation & Service Engineers, Plant Maintenance Staff, Supervisors, Service Managers, Design and Application Engineers, Sales Engineers, Building Services Engineers and anyone who has responsibility for overseeing or accepting work done on air conditioning or refrigeration systems.

This is an excellent industry refresher course and is useful as preparatory training for a Category 1, F-Gas Certification Course.

Theoretical subjects include:

  • SI Engineering units, refrigeration cycles, components and controls, a study of the vapour compression cycle, the basic use of a Pressure-Enthalpy chart, refrigerants and the environment including alternative refrigerants, system components.
  • Equipment operator’s legal obligations including the F Gas Regulations, and an introduction into more complex systems.

Practical subjects include:

  • Pipe work joining techniques such as brazing etc, fault diagnosis, evacuation, dehydration, refrigerant charging and refrigerant recovery.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand how a basic refrigeration or air conditioning system functions
  • Be familiar with refrigeration and air conditioning industry terminology
  • Understand equipment operators legal obligations
  • Be familiar with basic pipe work joining techniques such as brazing etc, fault diagnosis, evacuation, dehydration, refrigerant charging and refrigerant recovery

A certificate of attendance will be provided.
