The Logic4training Domestic Electrical Installer (Part P) course is a practical electrical course that focuses on installation, inspection, testing and certification on domestic electrical installations, and how to notify the installation (where required) under Part P of the Building Regulations either directly to the Local Authority Building Control or through a Competent Person Scheme.

Covering installation, safety, inspection, testing, and certification (both Minor Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Certificates), trainees will learn which installations require notification under Part P of the Building Regulations and the correct procedure for notification.

The cost of the course includes training, assessment, the certification fee and a copy of the IET On-site Guide for BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

The Part P electrical course and assessment covers all the main competence areas required for domestic electrical installation, in-line with the latest edition of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

An essential course element that covers the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Health and Safety at Work Act. You will learn the industry terminology required to navigate BS 7671 and the IET On-Site Guide with confidence.

In-depth study of Part P (Electrical Safety) and its relationship with other Building Regulations, including Part M (Accessibility), Part B (Fire Safety), and Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power).

Learn the science behind a safe installation. This includes calculating load requirements, determining cable sizing based on installation methods, and understanding voltage drop and earth fault loop impedance limits.

Before tools touch the wall, you must assess the environment. This module covers identifying structural hazards, asbestos awareness, and evaluating the existing electrical intake to ensure it can support new work.

Hands-on workshop training. You will practice the physical installation of ring final circuits, radial power circuits, and various lighting configurations (one-way, two-way, and intermediate switching).

Mastering the most critical safety systems in a home. We cover the installation and sizing of Main Protective Bonding to gas and water services and the requirements for Supplementary Bonding in specialised areas.

Learn to identify different earthing systems (TN-S, TN-C-S, and TT) and the selection of protective devices, including MCBs, RCDs, RCBOs, and the latest requirements for Surge Protection (SPD) and Arc Fault Detection (AFDD).

The most vital safety skill for any installer. You will be assessed on the industry-standard 10-step procedure for isolating a circuit safely using approved voltage indicators and locking-off kits.

Practical training on the full “Initial Verification” sequence. This includes Dead Testing (Continuity, Insulation Resistance, Polarity) and Live Testing (Earth Loop Impedance and RCD trip-times).

Focusing on Section 701 of BS 7671, you will learn the specific requirements for “Zoned” areas such as bathrooms and shower rooms, including IP ratings and additional protective measures.

Training your eye to spot hazards in existing installations. You will learn how to classify observations (C1, C2, C3) and the immediate actions required to make a site safe for the consumer.

The administrative side of the trade. Learn how to accurately complete Minor Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC), and how to notify works through a Competent Persons Scheme (CPS) such as NICEIC or NAPIT.

While the course focuses on domestic single-phase systems, this module provides an essential overview of 3-phase supplies, identifying balanced loads and the safety implications of 400V systems in residential settings.

Practical Assessments

You will be required to demonstrate your hands-on skills in our bespoke training bays. This includes the physical installation of circuits, performing safe isolation, and executing a full sequence of inspection and testing on a single-phase system. You must prove you can accurately complete the relevant industry certification (EIC and Minor Works) based on your results.

Online Theory Assessments

The theoretical side of the course is validated through a series of multiple-choice, open-book examinations. These assessments test your knowledge of Part P Building Regulations, circuit design principles, and your ability to navigate the IET On-Site Guide and Electrician’s Guide to the Building Regulations to find technical information quickly and accurately.
