Regular inspection and testing ensure that electrical installations remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle. They help identify deterioration, damage, or non-compliance with current standards, reducing the risk of electrical fires and accidents.
Condition Report codes (C1, C2, C3, FI) are used to classify the safety and compliance of electrical installations:
- C1: Danger present, immediate remedial action required
- C2: Potentially dangerous, urgent remedial action required
- C3: Improvement recommended
- FI: Further investigation required
These codes help prioritise remedial work and ensure installations meet legal and safety standards.
Holding this qualification enables electricians to take on a broader range of responsibilities, including signing off EICRs and meeting the criteria for Qualified Supervisor status or Approved Electrician JIB grade. It also supports ongoing professional development and enhances employability in the electrical sector.
