FAQs
The ICPN1 Commercial Pipework module is designed for experienced gas operatives who wish to install commercial gas pipework in excess of 35mm diameter. It is typically undertaken as part of the Commercial Changeover Gas Safety Package or the Core Commercial Gas Safety Package, but can also be taken as a standalone module. The course covers the installation of the first fix of commercial pipework, ensuring operatives are competent to work safely and in compliance with current regulations.
Commercial gas pipework installations must comply with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations. These regulations set out requirements for safe installation, maintenance, and use of gas systems in commercial settings, including correct pipe sizing, tightness testing, and purging procedures.
After installation, operatives must:
- Perform a tightness test on the entire installation
- Visually inspect the pipework
- Check for correct operation and ensure safe functioning of the system
These checks are required under Regulation 26/9 of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.
- ICPN1 covers the installation of the first fix of commercial pipework in excess of 35mm.
- TPCP1 covers tightness testing and purging of installation pipework exceeding 1m³ in volume, up to 16 bar operating pressure for natural gas.
- TPCP1A is for tightness testing and direct purging of pipework not exceeding 1m³ in volume.
These modules are often completed together for comprehensive competence in commercial gas pipework installation and testing.
Investing in ICPN1 Commercial Pipework training ensures your engineers are fully qualified to install and maintain commercial gas pipework above 35mm diameter, as required by UK law. This not only keeps your business compliant with Gas Safe regulations but also broadens the range of services you can offer, potentially increasing revenue and winning larger contracts.
The ICPN1 qualification, like all ACS gas modules, must be renewed every five years. Logic4training offers refresher courses and reassessment packages to ensure your team remains compliant and up to date with the latest industry standards.
