This course includes training and assessment on the following TPCP1a – Tightness Testing & Direct Purging of installation Pipework.
It covers the skills and knowledge required to undertake tightness testing & direct purging of installation pipework not exceeding 1m³ in volume, 40 mbar pressure and 150mm diameter natural gas only.
Training is not a mandatory pre-requisite to assessment.

Operatives must hold one of the following qualifications:
- COCN1 – Core Commercial Gas Safety qualification or
- CODNCO1 – Changeover Domestic to Commercial Gas Safety
- Core Catering, Laundry, Metering, LPG or Domestic

Like all ACS gas safety modules, TPCP1A must be renewed every five years to maintain Gas Safe registration and ensure ongoing compliance with the latest industry standards and safety regulations.
- Select and correctly read the appropriate pressure gauge
- Isolate all appliances and inform the responsible person
- Conduct a tightness test prior to purging
- Calculate the installation and purge volumes
- Purge the system safely, minimising the release of unignited gas
- Ensure every branch of pipework is purged and establish a stable flame at each appliance.
