What the Level 2 Plumbing Diploma covers.

Speak to our team

The Diploma is built from 13 mandatory units, covering everything from health & safety and plumbing science through to the practical installation, maintenance, decommissioning and testing of every major domestic plumbing and heating system. Here's exactly what each unit covers.

The legal framework that keeps you, your colleagues and your customers safe on site. You’ll cover the Health and Safety at Work Act, RIDDOR reporting, risk assessments, COSHH, PPE, manual handling, working at heights and safe working in confined spaces. The unit also covers asbestos awareness, fire safety, hot-works permits and the safe use of blow torches.

Start working as a domestic plumber

With the Diploma alone, you’re qualified to work as a domestic plumber that’s able to fit bathrooms, install and service hot and cold water systems, central heating systems and above-ground drainage in residential properties. Many of our candidates start picking up domestic work straight after completing the course, mainly employed and sometimes self-employed.

Level 2 NVQ

Add the Level 2 Plumbing NVQ

To work on commercial sites or apply for your JIB Plumbing CSCS card, you’ll need the Level 2 NVQ on top of the Diploma. The NVQ is completed through 2 witnessed, on-site assessments of installations: a bathroom and a central heating/hot water system installation.

It’s included in our Silver, Gold & Platinum packages, or you can add it on separately later.

Combine a Level 2 NVQ with the WRAS Water Regulations qualification, and you’re eligible to apply for the Water Industry Approved Plumber Scheme (WIAPS) and regional equivalents. Gaining an Approved Plumber status opens up self-certification work and recognised industry credibility.

These qualifications are included in our Silver, Gold & Platinum packages.

Included in our Gold & Platinum packages.

Renewables

Move into renewables

With the UK’s push to net zero, demand for heat pump and solar thermal installers is at an all-time high. Once you hold your Level 2 NVQ (and ideally gas qualifications too), you can upskill into renewable heating technologies such as heat pumps.
