At 76, Stephen continues his gas engineering journey as he loves helping his clients and keeping his mind active. Finishing his CCN1 re-assessment at Logic4training, Stephen praises the staff for their support, and gives the course a glowing recommendation after years of attendance.

Course Highlights

Stephen had a great experience on his CCN1 re-assessment course at Logic4training. He believes that the training provides ongoing value, even if nothing feels entirely new, he believes you never fully master everything ‘inside out’.

Keeping his Mind Active at 76

At 76, Stephen values the course for staying mentally sharp and visiting nice customers:

“At the age of 76, I still have nice customers out there which I like to go and see and it keeps my mind active”

Excellent Staff and Support

Stephen shares how the training centre staff are ‘brilliant’ and very helpful, going so far to reserve parking spaces for him due to his limited mobility:

“The training centre staff are brilliant. You know, they’re all very helpful with parking, not that I can walk that far, so, they always made a space for me.”

To conclude, Stephen highly recommends the course; and finds Logic4training to be a ‘good place’ which he has attended for many years.

Career Prospects

Completion of the CCN1 Core Domestic Gas Safety Re-assessment, along with relevant appliance qualifications, ensures engineers remain Gas Safe compliant and up to date with current industry standards and regulations. This qualification must be renewed every five years to maintain registration on the Gas Safe Register and demonstrate ongoing competence to legally work on domestic gas installations.

The course refreshes core safety knowledge and practical skills, covering key areas such as gas safety legislation, combustion, ventilation, and the safe installation and maintenance of domestic gas appliances. It is designed for experienced engineers whose existing qualifications are nearing expiry, helping them continue working safely and confidently in the field.

Successful candidates can continue their careers as domestic gas engineers, carrying out installation, servicing, and maintenance work across a wide range of appliances. With safety and compliance at the forefront of the industry, staying qualified through regular CCN1 re-assessment is essential for ongoing employment and professional credibility.

FAQ

What happens if my CCN1 qualification expires?

If your CCN1 qualification expires, you can no longer legally carry out gas work or remain on the Gas Safe Register until you’re requalified.

Do I need to bring any documents to my CCN1 re-assessment?

Yes, you will need to bring the following:

  • Proof of previous qualifications.
  • Valid UK ID – driving licence or passport.
  • Two passport sized photos for certification and registration records.

What’s the difference between the Initial ACS Assessment and Re-assessment?

The ACS Initial Assessment is for new entrants to the gas industry or engineers whose qualifications have expired for more than 12 months. It’s a more in-depth assessment that proves full competence and allows candidates to join the Gas Safe Register.

The ACS Re-assessment (which Stephen completed)  is for already qualified engineers and must be completed every five years to maintain Gas Safe registration. It’s shorter and focuses on refreshing knowledge and confirming ongoing competence rather than starting from scratch.

What are the course timings?

Courses typically run during standard working hours, but we also offer weekend options. Please contact the team to discuss availability.

The CCN1 Re-assessment course costs at Logic4training costs £965 + VAT.
