Almost everyone starts at Level 2, which covers electrical principles, wiring systems and safe working. Level 3 builds on it with fault diagnosis, inspection and design. Together they form the City & Guilds 2365 pathway.
No. The Level 2 Diploma has no formal entry requirements and is designed for complete beginners and career changers.
You do not need a job in the trade to begin, since the diplomas are classroom and workshop based rather than assessed on site. Basic numeracy helps, as electrical principles involve calculation, and you should be comfortable working with your hands.

A diploma is a classroom and workshop qualification you book and pay for yourself, with no employer needed. An apprenticeship combines the same qualifications with paid employment and takes longer overall.
