Unit 201

Health and Safety in Building Services Engineering

Safety is the most critical aspect of any electrical career. Unit 202

Principles of Electrical Science

Electrical Installations Technology

This module bridges the gap between science and practice. You will learn about the different types of electricity supply systems in the UK (such as TN-S, TN-C-S, and TT) and the technical requirements for earthing and bonding. Level 2 Diploma

7 weeks

The first step to becoming an electrician is the C&G 2365 Level 2 Electrical Diploma that covers essential electrical science and practical wiring skills. It qualifies you to start working on-site immediately as an Electrician’s Mate.
18th Edition

3 days

The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is an essential course teaches you how to navigate the UK’s national safety standard (BS 7671). It is a requirement for almost all site work and is necessary for your future ECS card application.
Level 3 Diploma

6 weeks

Building on your Level 2 Electrical Diploma knowledge, the C&G 2365 Level 3 Electrical Diploma focuses on advanced electrical theory, fault finding and inspection. It is a pre-requisite qualification that is required to complete the C&G 2357 Level 3 Electrical NVQ.
Level 3 NVQ

6-18 months

During the C&C 2357 Level 3 Electrical NVQ, you'll gather evidence of your practical competence while working on real-world installations. An assessor will verify your portfolio to ensure you meet industry standards for safety and quality.
The AM2

3 days

The Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) is the final unit of the Level 3 NVQ. It is a three-day practical and theory exam taken at an AM2 approved centre. Passing this is the final hurdle to proving you are a competent, skilled electrician.
ECS Gold Card

6-8 weeks

With your NVQ and AM2 certificates, you can apply for the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) Gold Card. This is your professional "passport" that allows you to work independently on any commercial or industrial site in the UK.

Practical Assignments

These hands-on assessments take place in our bespoke training bays, mimicking real-world environments. You will be tasked with the physical installation and testing of wiring systems, the construction of ring final circuits, and the installation of consumer units and lighting systems.

Online Exams

You will complete a series of computer-based exams covering the core theoretical units, including Electrical Science and Health & Safety. These are held in our centres with immediate results provided upon completion.

Written Assessments

To demonstrate an understanding of your electrical theory, you will also complete short-answer written assignments. These tasks ensure you can accurately interpret technical diagrams and specifications, a critical skill for any aspiring professional electrician.

What are the entry requirements for the C&G 2365 Level 2 Electrical Diploma?

The City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations is specifically designed as a beginner pathway. To join the course at Logic4training, you must meet the following criteria:

Yes. The 2365 Level 2 Electrical Diploma is a fully accredited technical certificate recognised by the Joint Industry Board (JIB). Completing this course will allow you to apply for an ECS Trainee Electrician card or an Electrical Labourer card, providing you with the necessary credentials to work on-site legally while you continue your training toward full qualification.

While the Level 2 Electrical Diploma makes you a “Trainee” or “Electrician’s Mate,” it does not make you a “Fully Qualified Electrician.” To reach that status, you must complete the Level 3 Electrical Diploma (2365-03), the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and eventually a Level 3 Electrical NVQ with the AM2 assessment. However, the Level 2 Electrical Diploma is the essential foundation that allows you to start earning as you learn.

Within the electrical trade, there is a fair amount of maths involved. The course includes “Electrical Science” (Unit 202), which focuses on intermediate-level mathematics. You will learn to work with essential formulas such as Ohm’s Law (V = I \times R) and the Power Equation (P = V \times I). A key part of the course is learning the transposition of formulae, which allows you to rearrange these equations to find different values. Don’t worry if you’re rusty! Our trainers specialise in breaking these concepts down into simple, practical steps, ensuring you have the confidence to apply them in a workshop environment.

An apprenticeship requires you to have an employer from day one. The 2365 route is a pathway that allows you to gain your technical knowledge first. This is often preferred by career changers because it makes you much more employable. Once you have your Level 2, companies are more likely to hire you as an improver or apprentice because you already possess the basic safety and installation skills.

Many students choose to learn their electrical trade by booking the Level 2 Electrical Diploma as part of a Logic4training electrical package. This allows for a more seamless transition between units and is the most efficient way to complete all your classroom-based theory before moving on to the Level 3 Electrical Diploma and the on-site Level 3 Electrical NVQ.
