Completing your City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Electrical Diploma is the finish line for your intensive classroom training, but it is just the beginning of your professional career in the field. Depending on your goals, whether you want to work on-site, start your own business, or move into consultancy, there are three primary routes available:
1. Secure Employment as an Electrical Labourer or Improver
With your technical diploma in hand, you are highly valuable to employers. You can begin working immediately as a skilled electrical labourer or improver. In this role, you will apply your classroom knowledge to real-world projects under the guidance of a qualified electrician, gaining the practical “logbook” hours required for your future NVQ.
2. Achieve Full Qualification via the NVQ & AM2
To move from an “Improver” to a “Fully Qualified Electrician,” you must prove your competence in the workplace. Logic4training can support you through this final transition:
- The Level 3 NVQ: A performance-based portfolio where an assessor verifies your work on-site.
- The AM2 Assessment: A final, independent practical exam that serves as the industry’s ultimate “test of competence.”
- The Result: Once completed, you are eligible for the prestigious ECS Gold Card, allowing you to work unsupervised and command the highest industry rates.
3. Specialise
Many of our students choose to “future-proof” their careers by adding specialist certifications immediately after their Level 3. These “bolt-ons” allow you to charge more for your services and win higher-spec contracts:
Initial & Periodic Inspection: Master the art of EICRs and certification. This qualification is essential for anyone wanting to join a Competent Person Scheme or work in the rental sector.
PAT Testing: Learn to carry out the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. This is a lucrative addition to any electrician’s skillset, allowing you to offer essential safety compliance services to offices, landlords, and commercial businesses.
