To become a fully qualified electrician in the UK, you typically need to complete a Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma, the 18th Edition Wiring Regs, an NVQ Level 3 portfolio, and the AM2 assessment. To become a fully qualified (Gold Card) electrician, it typically takes 16 weeks of intensive in-centre training plus the time required to complete your on-site NVQ portfolio. Our Platinum Package is designed to streamline this process, moving you from a beginner to a professional far quicker than a traditional four-year apprenticeship.

After successful completion of the New Entrant Electrical Packages, you will gain the following qualifications and certificates:

Our New Entrant Electrical Packages are available at our Northolt, Luton, Basildon, or Sittingbourne Centres. If you are looking to complete the Essential Site Skills Course, it is only available at our Northolt centre. Should you want to complete the Essential Site Skills course at our Northolt Centre and the New Entrant Domestic Electrical Installer Course at another centre, you are more than welcome to do so.

The industry standard for a qualified electrician is the City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma, the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and an NVQ Level 3 including the AM2 assessment. Holding these qualifications allows you to apply for an ECS Gold Card, which is required to work unsupervised on most UK construction sites.

Yes, you can become an electrician with no experience by enrolling on our New Entrant Electrical Training packages. Our Bronze Route starts with the Level 2 Diploma, which covers fundamental electrical science and the practical skills needed to begin a career from scratch. From there, you can do the other courses in the packages as and when, to reach the point where you’re ready to undertake the AM2.

Yes, it is possible to complete the course over weekends. You will need to speak to our course advisors to discuss this further.

Classes can have a maximum of 10 people. We like to keep our class sizes small, so that you have more contact time with your trainer.

After completing the C&G 2357 Level 3 Electrical NVQ and holding the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification, you will be able to register with a Competent Person Scheme (CPS).

No – all tools and equipment are provided during the courses. However, you will need to bring hard steel toe-capped boots for when you are in the workshop. In some circumstances, candidates may bring their own test equipment if they so desire, but please check beforehand.

A domestic installer is qualified to work on electrical systems in residential properties, whereas a fully qualified electrician holds the Level 3 NVQ and AM2, allowing them to work in commercial and industrial sectors and hold a ECS Gold Card. The real difference is that a qualified electrician can sign off on their own work across the domestic and commercial properties, whereas a domestic installer can only sign off on non-notifiable work.
